I'd suggest changing it to "You must Do Nothing. You can still defend yourself, but you may not take Retreat options other than Duck and Dive." That still penalizes the character, but they can mostly defend themselves though they're still rooted in space.

: Yeah, that got pointed out on the forums. Your suggestion is a good modification, I like it. I suspect if you're busy fire worshiping outside of combat and miss your Per roll when a fight breaks out, you'd be surprised and therefore Mentally stunned, but that's basically normal Surprise rules there. --[[User:Jerril|Jerril]] 14:28, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Mentally stunned is harsh. No actions, and -4 to defenses, as a -5 disadvantage? It's much worse than Combat Paralysis.

I'd suggest changing it to "You must Do Nothing. You can still defend yourself, but you may not take Retreat options other than Duck and Dive." That still penalizes the character, but they can mostly defend themselves though they're still rooted in space.
